Summer vacation ends tonight and with it a change of clothes... schedules and getting back to school chums! I well remember the excitement of these events in my own life!
The snap of cold weather always meant returning to gridiron action... my passion at that time... and the renewed fellowship of team mates and friends! Exciting times... the beat goes on!
To all of my Sherman offspring headin' back to classes.... sons Liam and Bryn... Grand kids Bradie and Mica... each to their separate school destinations.... Bonne chance!
To my daughter Allison standing at the head of her first class of Renaissance Art students at Carleton University in Ottawa... Knock 'em dead Jemima! I'm so proud of "You"!
Love all of you!
Fabulous message, Bruce. This piece reminds me of a place here in Illinois known as "The Little Red School House," a building much like this one that is the heart of a nature preserve. Inside are many displays of indigenous species and has been around for eons (I used to go as a little girl and it still stands).
ReplyDeleteHi Autumn!... A "universal" Autumn! No matter where one lives... here in the Western world at least... the ritual of returning to school is indeed... ann integral part of our "September Song".... Past...Present and Future.
ReplyDeleteWe should count this as one of our great blessings. The opportunity to learn is a great gift! To teach and learn... is to know and realize that even more fully!
Good Painting and ....Happy September!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
I love your new masthead, Bruce..
ReplyDeleteYeah... It is really hard to believe that summer is over. I hardly knew I had one this year what with all that went on. Happily we move on and each new season brings its own joy.
The warmth and the "fit it all in" really work for me, Bruce!
ReplyDeleteHi Marian!... The masthead does herald the change in the seasons... and like "You" the summer really did seem to blow by... too quickly!
ReplyDeleteLike "You" as well... "I" anxiously await Autumn with its flaming colours... crisp... clear air... all great for plein air work!
Good painting! Thanks for visiting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Hi again Linny!... Refreshing to know that we are on the same page Linny! I so admire the warmth in your work... your rich colour and your vibrant, risky brushwork! All good!
ReplyDeleteGood Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Although I love the Fall, this painting makes me want to grab my sweater! Love the Fall colors!! Great painting as always.
ReplyDeleteThanks Hilda!... For visiting and for your compliments!
ReplyDeleteYou are right indeed! Grab the winter "garb"... we are already experiencing late fall temperatures and the blustery days off Georgian Bay! Tree colour is already underway... and will be early by about two weeks is my educated guess!
"I" am ready.. in body... spirit and am readying the equipment. Marching around in the basement in my snowshoes in the basement... to check out harnesses! Ready to rip!
Good Painting and Happy Fall!
waermest regards,
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
ReplyDeleteYes it is an exciting time of the year. I love the atmospheric quality you have captured. One can feel the cold brisk air and the crunch of the fallen leaves under foot. A favorite time of the year for me.
Looking forward to more of your plein air.
All the best to you.
Joan
Hi Joan!.... "We" are right on the very same page as always!
ReplyDelete"I" too love the Fall painting season... and for all of the very same reasons!
Look forward to sharing impressions... and chatting!
Good Fall Painting... and Grandma-ing to "You"
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
ReplyDeleteI am welcoming fall and your painting makes me want to walk through the grasses and feel the crisp, cool air! It's such a great time of year. I love the schoolhouse, my school never looked as charming and inviting as that. I do remember that first day back to school and the excitement of seeing friends again. Great memories!
Best to you Bruce and happy fall!!!
Sue
Thanks Sue... for dropping by and for sharing your own sweet school day memories!
ReplyDeleteMore parallels in out lives! We share so many blessings! As painters we constantly revisit those days past... and use them to create visual records. They're worth remembering... for "Me" at least!
Good Painting and Happy Fall back to "You" Sue!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Bruce, so good to find this blog of an old friend. Hope all is well with you. I love your oils. LOVE 'em. Some day I hope to figure out where the heck Hillsdale is and visit your gallery.
ReplyDelete(Say hello to Allison, who is forever six-years-old in my mind.)
Maureen (Meanie)
Hello there Maureen... So wonderful to hear from "You" after all the years! Thank you for getting in touch... and for the encouraging comments!
ReplyDeleteYou know Meanie... "You" will FOREVER be that wonderful young girl that babysat Allison way back in those Camden East days! I can still vividly recall watching you walk past the Gingerbread Gallery on you way home to and from school.
I was always struck by your quiet and unperturbed way... and your "old soul" presence even as a teenager. I always will hold dear the friendship we shared side-by-side as neighbours with your folks, Geordie and your Self!
I would VERY much enjoy seeing you again Maureen! Google Hillsdale... or check out the map on our web site. Our home is yours... just come on up!
My warmest hello to you and your family Meanie!
I'll pass along the message to Allison.... she too worshipped ....Meanie!
Warmest regard and much love,
Bruce
