So glad you're able to get back to painting...and finishing commissions is a great feeling...and it's so nice to HAVE commissions! I'm sure you'll be getting loads from your new home area very soon. Sounds like a wonderful place you're in and I look forward to all the new work!
My mother had a doctor she went to in Brampton several years ago who spent his spare time doing watercolours of all the old buildings and places in the Brampton area before they got torn down to make way for the new developments which were beginning to eat up everything in sight. He did very well in sales with those paintings as people hated to see the past done away with so cavalierly. I think it is important to remember these places and to leave the history for future generations to be aware of.

Hi there "up n' early Sherry!... Good morning to you... and thanks for your early morning visit and excitement!

The feed mill is just as you see it here... abandoned and mouldering... sadly to say! Like many things "old" (including people).... their service and importance to man has long since passed and they are neglected and forgotten.

This is the main reason that I have chosen to record such buildings in my work over the years. Many of my subjects... like these two are now ghosts... within my lifetime. In a good many cases ... my paintings will maybe serve as the only record of their having been here.

Such is life... and the "pernickety" (maybe not a word) nature of man.

Rockport indeed fuels my excitement to paint... but so does the interest and ythe kind comments of friends like you Sherry!

I'm into my second of three "carried" commissions... and then... SHAZAM!!! Look out Rockport the rush will indeed be on!

WE are really enjoying the varied songbird population that share our world and backyard here in Rockport!

A Gray Cat Bird pair nesting under our kitchen window has taken ownership... for the present of our yard... but two Ruby Throat humming birds taxi to our feeder constantly and Northern Tree Sparrows serenade us in the early morning!

Life has certainly gone to the birds! HA HA!!! WE are deeply blessed. Heaven need not wait for "Me" Jeffrey! Heaven is my Home... and "I" have already arrived!

Good Morning Keith!... The weather continue to shine and I have been able to begin to paint my Hillsdale commissions from the lawn... with the River stretched before me. A paradoxical plein air session for sure! HA HA!!

We are really encouraged with the steady traffic and the positive reception we have already received in the short time we have been set up here! IT augers well I think for things to come! Fingers crossed!

It feels so good to be painting again. I really missed it. I'm surprised at how quickly my palette seemed to return. As you suggested earlier... that isn't usually the case when one takes a hiatus. The landscape is very inspiring ... and different in so many ways from the other location!

Those wee goldfinches are like chickadees... a joy to behold... but a real challenge to catch in one spot long enough to photograph them! HA HA!! I love their cheery voices and exuberant nature!

Rockport has a plethora of inspiration... scarcely a stone's throw from our home and the studio.

I painted from our front lawn yesterday and sold the piece right from the easel to visitors. Lots of visitors from all over Canada and the world at large! A promising sign of things to come I believe! Fingers crossed!

We have Northern Tree Sparrows nesting in the garden and today a cedar waxwing appeared. Stayed a long while after hitting the window. I placed him on a branch and petted his head while he got over his concussive state. Got some great pix which I'll share next post!

Hi there Sherry!... Sorry to hear about your hummingbird blues! Plant some very red bush or fragrant flowers nearby your feeder and voila! They will come for sure!

We dreamers all have those log cabin thoughts Sherry! Perhaps it is more the association with isolation... solitude and peace. We have both found ours here in Rockport for certain. We are livin' the dream I'll tell you!
